Suit Hog 12/18

I made a quick hunt after work before a Christmas party and killed this 140lb hog while wearing my suit!  Nobody around to take a picture but I did have my buddy Greg on the line when I pulled the trigger (dead pig, pig down).

Oklahoma Goose Hunt 2012

Dan and I headed to Oklahoma to hunt with my brother at his club.  It was the best goose hunt either of us have ever been on and we can't wait to go back next year.  It was literally unbelievable!

Groceries for the weekend, pork, pork, and pecan pies!  Didn't get a pic of the finished pork butts they were so good.

The Grey Ghost went over 280K!

Dan trying to smile and keep the dirt out of his eyes, ears, mouth...  We were getting pelted by dirt right in the face by a 25-30 mph wind!  I'm still getting it out of my teeth.

A little mist finally settled the dirt in the afternoon but it turned to rain and toasted my phone that had fallen out of the truck when I opened a gate.

We busted on a duck hunt Saturday morning and my phone was still out of commission so no pics either.  Sunday morning my phone decided to work enough to get some pics and video.  Enjoy!

Midway Bottom Pasture Dec. 6th, 7th and 13th

I hunted a morning and a couple evenings but had no luck.  I saw one doe for about 30 seconds at 400 yards and had a buddy shoot a hog but we never made a recovery.

RR crew set up shop and went to work on the tracks next to the field I was hunting one morning.  The trains normally don't bother the deer but a few guys out yelling and blowing warning horns will...

 

During some down time I mounted a turkey fan and beard my brother shot in OK last year.  Also always checking feeders, this one needed a new battery.

Another evening in the stand.  I should have brought my shotgun instead of rifle.  There were three trees filled with 50 plus dove in the bottom pasture by the water tank.  I know where to go when dove opens again in a few days!

11/19 Morning Midway Bottom Pasture

I saw one shooter that didn't give me an opportunity and a spike that I should have shot but was hoping the big deer would be coming back out.  Both cruising.

Sand Pond Deer

I hunted a friend's place near Palestine and we put some meat on the ground!

I drew blood Friday night.  Deer went about 200 yards before piling up.  Took a quartering away shot that took out his liver and clipped one lung.  Blood trail was very poor but I had 4 friends helping out and we made the recovery.  He was laying about 15 yards from where we found my arrow he finally kicked out.

 It was a great weekend minus the hot 75 degree plus weather and slow deer movement.  We just got lucky and capitalized on the few opportunities this weekend gave us.
