Camera Surveys

Time to put out extra camera's for the MLDS deer survey.

Ran into a couple obstacles on the way...Snakes and tree limbs.

New feeder set up.

We didn't get everything done before the bottom fell out.

The beaver pond caught lots of water so I pulled the drain pipe caps to help get the water back down.

The rain will be good for the hay pasture.  We just cut and got 172 bales.

"Gator Dan"

Another successful gator season!  Check out these two brutes with my boy "Gator Dan" (my "Git-R-Done" gator guide)!  Booking hunts for next year.

In addition to sticking big gators, he's good at sticking and unsticking any kind of 4x4 or ATV.  This trip was the Rhino trying to drive through a marsh pond.  "It made it through just fine...just wouldn't climb back up the 2 foot lip at the edge" - Gator Dan.

Cherokee 6th of July and Lightning

Jake had fun feeding the catfish.

I tried to get some fishing in right before a big storm blew in but instead I got stuck down at the boathouse.

You can see a lightning strike hit on the water or another boathouse on the opposite shore right at the 47th second of this video.  Watch halfway down the post to the left of the flag banner.

Old trolling motor + broke down "Wonder Duck" = "Mallard Machine"

I've had an old trolling motor that's been in my tool box for the past 150,000 miles or so...  It was time to turn it into a more useful project and I couldn't help but think about making something that will keep the water and decoys moving in the beaver pond duck hole.

Original "Wonder Duck".

I did some surgery to cut open and remove the guts.

While I was working on this project Jake was helping Papa fix the mower.

Decoy mounted on motor control head with some OD Green spray paint.

After bolting to a T-Post at an angle and running wires to a battery I should be able to create lots of action on the water and in the decoys!  I'll post video during the season when its in action.

4th of July

I met Wes at our place and got about an hour of fishing in.  It was sloowww!  Got 2 bites and 2 fish.  It was supposed to go the other way with me catching the little guy and him the good one...There's always next time!

Lazy Porkers

Beavers are back living in the beaver pond and have rebuilt the dam where I installed the drain pipes.  Lots of smartweed growing which is great!

Something broke off the ends of the pipe (beavers or cattle when the water was down) but it is still functioning.  I'll just have to dig out the area they are trying to clog with debris...a never ending battle.

Dove plot coming up (millet, sorghum, sunflowers, sesame)

Deer summer plot (cowpeas, okra, soybeans, buckwheat, chicory)

Hay is cut
