Killing Time

While being stuck at home waiting on our next child to be born and getting ready to move to Tyler I decided to clean out some of the freezer and make jerky from some deer, elk, and pork from last year's season. It's a two day process of cutting, curing/seasoning, and drying the meat.

Skewers to separate and hang the meat.

Using the oven since we are in the apartment and the smoker in storage.  2-3 hours at 220 degrees.  Drinking beer during this is a requirement!

The next evening we welcomed Luke Raymond to the family!

Turkeys

John and Matt both got their birds by 9:00 Saturday AM!

Dustin and I got outsmarted by two gobblers that we couldn't get close enough for shots so we went with plan B.

Bass Trip

I had a chance to do a fishing trip with some clients from Cordillera Ranch and although the fishing was tough we had a great time.  We caught lots of 12-16 inch healthy fish but no big ones.  Best lure by far today was a finesse trick work from Zoom in motor oil.

Afterwords I stopped by to supervise Dave, Rick, and Don while they were making sausage.

Pedernales Fishing

I headed up to Fredericksburg to scout out the fishing for a group coming out in a couple weeks.  The bass have all spawned out but are back feeding again and I caught several small river fish and one chunk.

This redear didn't like my Zoom Lil Critter Craw either!

Found one tiny shed and a dead deer that I wish would have made it one more season but would most likely be a cull anyway.

Filling Feeders and Crappie Fishing

We filled feeders and caught 67 crappie over a couple hours. Our biggest came off right at the bank and dwarfed this one. We caught 12-20 small to average sized for one of these hoss's!
