Opening Archery Weekend 2010

A few deer from a trail cam.

I only saw a few even with nice cool mornings. Most deer were seen in the evening.

Had a great time meeting the other guys on this lease and smoking brisket, pork, chicken, and some deer sausage for everyone's lunch Saturday. Going out again in the morning so I'll give another report later this week.

Dove Hunt

Went to the lease in Wimberley to do some work and see if there were any Dove in the area.

Had a slow morning only killing 9 birds but we got some work in and had some fun.

Cabela's

Trip to Cabela's to get mom some quiet time to study and check out any new and can't live without hunting gear. Found some cool stuff but only left with a Mojo dove, some decoys, and other accessories. Cabela's has a ton of animals on display and Jake stayed busy pointing them out and saying either "der" or "rawr"!

Almost left with a new Bad Boy Buggy because Jake loved checking it out and threw a fit when I pulled him off it to leave. Probably the worst fit he has ever had! Wish I had pictures but had to get out of there!

First Hunt 2010/2011

I met my buddy at the lease this weekend to get some work done and have a little fun. We accomplished both and then some! Usually the first time out hunting during the year is to get on some pigs or a bird hunt. This year starts out a little different and kicks off the season right.

As you can see from the camera pics I had a couple good reasons to get up early and sit in a blind Saturday morning. Fishing, shooting the bow, cooking, and relaxing by the fire under the moon

And the early season payoff on Saturday morning was a great Axis buck! My first ever and a nice one considering this place is relatively small and low fenced. These deer got out of a neighbor's place sometime in the past few years when floods took out some fencing and they have been thriving on this place since. This one is going on the wall and will put some great meat in the freezer.

A buddy from Oregon sent me this video and I wasn't sure what to say. So I sent it to Brian "The Pigman" Quaca for a response.





Here is what he said...And I quote "Don't know where Squeaky lives, but he'd better keep his distance...lol. We ain't in the business of pettin' hogs down here."
