ANEIET 2013

3rd Annual "Ain't Nothing Easy In East Texas" 2013!

A well stocked fridge of beer, bacon and eggs...

We had a good amount of birds hanging around and were expecting a decent hunt this year.

Several of us got in early enough Friday to get some work in for deer season.  Mowed out a couple roads, planted oats, and set up a new tower blind.

Checking out the duck pond progress.

Friday evening we sat over 3 feeders and went 3 for 3 on hogs!

Bryan's pig

Landon's pig

Spread out over the hay field Saturday morning and let em have it.  There was lots of shooting going on and we ended up with about 30 birds in the bag.

After a big breakfast and some rest it was time for the afternoon hunt at the Midway dove field.

There were another 30 birds recovered not including this mojo casualty!

I smoked a brisket, ribs, and two pork butts for dinner Saturday night.  We added Cozad's cole slaw and Dubya's green beans, cabbage, and sauces for one heck of a meal...

A little poker after dinner both nights.  Yes that's a jar of moonshine on the table!

Dan getting some couch time with my dog.

Dolan straight smoked this coyote Saturday night!

Dan and I were the only guys to get up and hunt Sunday morning and we killed 8 more like this.

After riding around in the buggy checking memory cards we came across some hogs.  We got at least one confirmed kill!

Two other casualties included the blown motor in this generator and finding out my truck had dead batteries as I was trying to head home.

Survey Friday

Time for the annual MLD survey camera set-up.  I've got most camera's already up and running but put out several more to complete the survey.

Topping off feeders, batteries, etc.

New feeder and pen complete.

The cow peas are still looking good but we really need some rain.

Almost got the platform finished for the box blind to over the new feeder set-up too.

Duck Pond Progress

Finally broke ground on the project.  First order of business is getting the water drained.

Three more porkers down!

4th of July!

Dug another trench to keep draining and it will be the install location for the riser board control.

Some water left before the real dirt work can begin.

The hay got cut and bailed just before we are expecting some rain.

I put out a time lapse camera on the high line pea patch.

Jake helped me build a blind platform.

My brother came through town and I set him up for the 1st kill with the new pig thumper!
