South Padre Island

We took a short vacation down to SPI to enjoy the beach and do a little fishing and crabbing. Here's the evening view from the porch of our condo.


Blue Crabs

Fishing topwaters and soft plastics from the dock for ladyfish and trout. I also fished in the surf and caught three ladyfish from 2-4lbs. These are known as the poor man's tarpon because once hooked they go wild and jump and tail walk just like a tarpon! Really fun on medium weight bass tackle!

#?*! Stuck

It's worse than it looks. The other side was buried. I usually take the Blazer to fill feeders on this side but figured the old Dodge could handle it. After driving the Blazer with a 4 inch lift and 35's effortlessly through this low spot multiple times I forgot how heavy the front end of my Dodge is and didn't carry enough speed to make it through the slop. Luckily our neighbor Steve was home and drove over in his tractor to yank me out.



Just a minor slow down, but got feeders filled, batteries changed, and even time to catch a few bass and crappie.

Wimberley - 6/12/10

Filling and checking all the feeders... Well, most of them. We were trying to beat rain showers and darkness. Filled about 3 1/2 tons of protein/corn feeders before it got too late.

Bass Pro Shops - 6/11/10

We visit Bass Pro Shops frequently to pick up supplies and just check out any new stuff they may have. Today Jake was checking out the firearm, hat, and fish selection.
