A buddy and I went out to cull the herd and put some meat in the pot. Mission accomplished!

Another shanked hog
Another porker in the creek. Tracked him with a buddy for about 75 yards and lost blood. Marked it and came back in the AM to find him in the creek 30 yards from where we lost the track.

Jake's First Deer Hunt
Took Jake to Wimberley since Gina was sick and both our babysitters weren't available. I really went up to hang out and do some cooking for the other guys up that weekend but we did end up sitting in a blind Saturday evening. I was sure to take the DVD player and every book and toy that was in my truck. Jake sat from 4:15 to dark and was really good. We even had a nice 8 point within 50 yards. Our blind was large, insulated, and had sliding double pane windows so we could have a party in there without the deer knowing! Dave finally killed this free range fallow and Todd killed a spike to help out the ranch.

Arte's First Duck Hunt
Took my yellow lab Arte on her first two duck hunts over Thanksgiving. First morning was hot and we sat over a creekbed with very little water and only killed mosquitos. Day two was after a front blew in and brought freezing temps and a new duck hole with water. Had a great time with brother in laws and friends.

Opening Gun Weekend 2010
Hunted outside of Fredericksburg this weekend and had decent weather - Just under 30 in the mornings and warming up to 70 in the afternoon. The deer were moving pretty well.
Worst part of the weekend was news that my buddy's deer camp cabin had burned to the ground sometime during the week. This picture is from January.
And this is what he found Friday afternoon...The mangled tin on the left is the roof where the hogs are hanging in the picture above. Speechless.
Somehow he was able to hunt and was rewarded with this great trophy to help ease the pain. A true monster for East Texas!
Picked up the rifle for the Sunday morning hunt and it payed off with this 9 point!

Opening Weekend Duck
I couldn't get away to hunt but my brother did. He was able to shoot a limit of teal, gadwall, and mallard, including this eclipse drake.
